The Gifts of Being a Zig Zagger: Walking the Road Less Travelled
Jan 28, 2025
Sometimes we are put on this Earth extremely clear about our assignment and what we are supposed to do. For others, the path ahead is much less clear.
That doesn't make you bad or wrong, just different from the ones who have clear sight forward. The path for those of us who are clear (btw, not me), is that things are relatively straightforward and easy to plan for. It also doesn't make you better than others. Just different paths for different folks.
There are gifts in both paths.
Today I will highlight the delights of the "Zig Zagger" who btw are those who take a path less travelled. They are much more likely to think there is something wrong with them and be very self-critical. If only you knew what to do - you would get straight to it. We know there is nothing wrong with your ability to accomplish things and you are anything but lazy. However, you are someone who needs to experience a few paths. Those paths provide a lot of information. Firstly, you could find that whatever it was sounded good and everyone around you including your parents and best friends thought you would be perfect for it. Alas, not true. For you.
So now on top of being a bit confused, you might also feel a bit guilty for not liking what everyone thought you would love. You might also feel like a bit of a failure, and that if you were clever like the people who took this path in the first place, of course it would feel right. But that isn't the truth either.
The good news is you are a Zig Zagger - someone who explores life, who does things a bit more trial and error. One of my astrology mentors told me if you have a few significant planets retrograde in your birth chart, than you do need to work learn through experience, rather than just have that straight approach to career. Now I don't have any scientific studies to prove that out, but what I do know is there are as many different approaches to life as there are people, and I am here to tell you that your path is unique to you - straight or zig-zaggy, and you will find your path, and it likely will be one a little less traveled. And it can only be traveled by you.
Remember, there is nothing wrong with you and you don't need to feel any further guilt. You are strong, resilient, sensitive, and need to be in the right place to flourish - the square peg in the square hole and not the round one.
However, by tuning in to what excites you and what gets you up in the morning, you are going to be able to create the right path. We have lots of tools to help you become even more clear about things, but for now, just experiment for a day or a week. At the end of each day, write down the things you can remember doing, putting them into one of two columns - "Exciting" or "Not Exciting". Sometimes the "Not Exciting" column are things we have to do but don't love doing them, and that is fine. We all have to do some things that don't really jazz us. But, take note and see how your daily activities would fare under scrutiny.
How many are in your "Exciting" column? How many in the Not Exciting column? What do you notice? How much time do you spend doing things that don't excite you? What is that costing you? What could you bring into your life?
Now, experiment with the things you do love doing and do more of that. Give yourself permission to explore and have fun. Open your heart and see where it might lead you. You create your own rules.
I look forward to seeing more of you. Stay alert and know that you are absolutely enough - straight forward or Zig-Zagging.
